Doepner Mobile robot, 2006 Smartist is an independent mobile robot that replaces a person - more precisely, an artist - and performs this person's tasks. It lives in the exhibition area, where it moves freely and responds to visitors and other displayed works. Occasionally it writes the signatures of artists Nika Oblak & Primož Novak on the floor of the gallery, turning it into a Smartist signature and making the artists redundant. Smartist functions as a successful artist - the signature becomes its trademark. |
