BANK ROBBERY
Interactive video installation, 2.28 min - loop, 2003
Bank Robbery is an interactive video installation for a public space.
The installation is composed of a TV, a computer, specially designed
software, and a digital photo camera. On the TV screen the viewer
sees a breaking news report about a bank robbery in Milan that happened
overnight. The suspects escaped and could be anywhere in the world
by now. Then, at the very next moment in the TV news report, the viewers
who are standing on a certain spot in the public space see a photograph
of themselves as the suspects in the bank robbery.
The installation deals with the issues of visual images/information.
The media can use various technologies to manipulate or simulate events.
In the public/social space our privacy is becoming more and more limited
as surveillance cameras record most of our actions.
Technical requirements:
PC, specially designed software, camera Olympus C-750, TV set
